I'm a transplant to the Peach State.  There are many sources of crochet supplies here, which is nice.

Hope you all are keeping warm.

I lived there at one time in Millegeville, do you know where that is?
Where are you from, before you became a transplant to Georgia?

Kahud, I haven't been to Milledgeville, but it's one of those historical sites to visit someday.

I've moved so many times, I don't really have a "from".  I was in Germany before I came to Georgia.  The list goes on and on.

When were you in Milledgeville?

I know what you mean about moving, we did that a lot in the past.

I beleive it was in the mid to late 80's when I lived there. I remember the library the most, and the steam plant.
I loved going to the library, I think I was there at least twice a week.
And we had a small earth quake while we were there. They said how the steam plant made the waters in the lake so warm, it was what caused the quake. It is a very pretty place but I didn't like the college part of it.
It was so crowded at certain times of the year.

LOL, how ironic, I am now settled in a college town
have been here the longest of any place we have lived in years.
We have been here for the last 10 years.

That's interesting that the earthquake was caused by the steam.  So many consequences of modern living....

College towns are a mixed deal, aren't they?  The older I get, the quieter I like things.  But, the availability of a good library, and chamber music is nice.

Oh yes, I agree, we have lots of things to enjoy when there is a college.
I too like a quieter pace as I get older.
The libraries are the major plus. We just limit out trips out to sundays
when the traffic isn't so bad.
All in all I guess I can't complain, Bowling Green is a pretty nice town

I was raised in Nashville and surrounding area.
My parents (my Dad) was transfered to FL when I was in high school. When I graduated I moved back home, and when I married (at age 26),
I moved back down there to be closer to my parents at the time. We were in Live Oak, Sanford, Flagler Beach and Lake City FL
when we were down there. Hubby and I ran Motels and Campgrounds.

We began to venture back up toward the north as the baby's got a little bigger (in the 80's) (I just did not like FL). We thought we could still be close to my Mom and still enjoy where we lived a little better if we went a little futher north.

I just got truely homesick for the country, that good old dirt, them beautiful hills and hollers and ridges, you know what I mean? So we all came back home to Goodlettesville, Tn...a sub-burb north of Nashville (where Rivergate Mall is). Then we came just a little further north to Scottsville, KY to caretake a large 264 acre farm.
We were becoming closer to God at this time in our life and it's when we met the old order Mennonites. We lived there in their community
for a year. The boys loved it there!

We did move a lot in 25 years, but when we wound up here in Bowling Green, KY we decided that we kinda liked it here, better than anywhere else we had ever lived. We have been here for the last 10 years, and in South Central Ky for 15.....

It's Home   South Central Kentucky is just beautiful, and the folks are so much like they use to be in Nashille (and around that area) when we were younger. Nashville has just gotten to big for her britches, to much city and no down home flavor left there anymore.

Kahud,  what a beautiful description!

I know what you mean about missing real earth.  I enjoy the warm climate farther south, but I miss how green it is here and having soil one can plant in.

I like the convenience of being able to utilize what a large city offers, but I do miss the quiet, beauty and neighborliness of countryside.  I sometimes wish that that the best of both worlds could be combined.
