Hi Everyone

I am new to this forum and I really need some HELP!!

I keep losing stitches and I think I am losing them when I turn at the end of a row.

Can someone direct me to a link or pic that show how I am supposed to be doing it. This afghan should have been green, because I have frogged it so many times.

Please HELP me before they have to come and put me in an loony bin.

Hey! Don't worry it has happened to all of us.

There are some great video tutorials at Nexstitch. I don't think they have the one
for turning at the end of the row, but they have great written instructions here.

Hope that helps!

Try some of these links:

http://www.nexstitch.com/a_turning.html

I took this from this web site:
http://crochet.about.com/od/learnbasics/a/beginners.htm
Common Beginner Problem

Every Row Gets Narrower - If you find that the item you're making gets narrower as you go along, you are probably missing crocheting in the last stitch of each row (a common beginner mistake). Try counting stitches for awhile and you'll know if you are ending up with one less stitch on every row. Then you can correct that by making a special note to notice what the last stitch of the row should look like and being careful to crochet into that last stitch of the row each time.

I hope these help you!

Something I found I did not do when I started was add that extra ch1 at the end of a sc row. Had a bugger of a time with that!!

Thanks everyone, I guess what I am doing is either not ending the row in the correct stitch or not starting the next row in the correct stitch. I am however doing the chain one when I turn.

When you chain 1 and turn, you end with your last stitch in the chain 1..
Make sense??

Hey Nance, I had that same problem when I started crocheting.

When I got to where I figured it out was when I would take a look at the top of my stitches.
Each stitch will always has a front and back loop. At the end, just remember to look and see if you still see that front and back loop. If you do, then that will be your last stitch

I too would leave it out and still I did the ch 1 or how ever many that my pattern called for. My piece would just go narrower and narrower as I crocheted.......looked yukky,

Just always look for that front and back loops on top of your work
and you will begin to see the whole stitch as you crochet more and more......it will become old hat

Glad to see you made it in here kiddo

Yea, I finally made it. Thanks for the advise and thanks for the nudge to join, I am really glad now that I did.

I so many rows last nite you would not believe it, trying to figure out where to begin again to where it was correct. Oh well, I will get it eventually.

again everyone for the suggestions.
