Has anyone ever gone to one of the Meet Up group events in your area? I went to a fiber arts one today at HL and met a nice group of women. There were some really FAST crocheters! And one lady was working on a knitted vest that had bobbles. She was also talking about knitting backward?! I have a lot to learn in knitting! I was working on my little dishcloth, but nobody laughed at my lack of knitting knowledge when I asked about something. I think I will go again. It was nice to see what others were working on and the methods they use to hold their hooks and needles.

| I have gone and loved it. We meet once a week at Caribou Coffee. I've really enjoyed getting to know the ladies. There are about 11 of us that show up regularly. |

I used to go to a 'knit-in' at an LYS when I lived in Michigan. Once we went to a Borders to have it. You could bring your crocheting. The woman who owned the yarn shop was so nice. She would bake sometimes and share it with us. I haven't found one here (and highly doubt there is one). That is nice you got to go to one.

| Tina, that is the advantage of living in a highly populated metroplex. There are groups all over. One of the reasons I picked this group is it is close to my house. There are some in Dallas, but I hate to commute for much of anything nowadays! |

Have you checked out Meet Up.com? That is how I found my local knitting group. Imagine my surprise when I found out that they'd been meeting only 1 mile from my house for the last 2 years! I haven't been to any of the Sit & Knit at my LYS yet. |

Thanks for the link.. I found a group that meets up once a month less then 2 miles from the house.. They knit and crochet hats, scarves, booties, socks for charity. they serve the homeless, cancer patients, hospice patients and many other worthy causes.

Yes, about a year ago a friend of mine (Gleda) who I met online and I
joined the Stitch N Bitch group in Manchester, CT. We meet at Panera's.
Everyone brings the project they are working on and we sit at tables and
chat for a couple of hours. We meet on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the
month though more people are asking that we meet every week, which
we may. We have knitters, crocheters, cross stitchers, Beaders so far.
It is so much fun to see what everyone is working on and show off the
projects that you have finished. The only thing I don't like is the name
because people look at you funny when you tell them. Unfortunately it is
an organization the sets up these meetings and they named it!! Have a
great Weekend everyone.

I will look closer this month. |

Well, I have been three times now. The women are very nice and I like it that there are day meetings. They do meet on Thursday nights at La Madeline's, I may check that out later. We are going to the DFW Fiber Fest and lunch next week. That will be fun. I wont be able to BUY anything at the event or do a class, but I will enjoy looking and petting yarn!
