I love the patterns on this site but the problem is that I have always
used written instructions for the past 40 years that I have crocheted.
For the life of me I cannot follow symbol crocheting!!!
Have a Great Day.

That site has some gorgeous stuff on it!

I have done symbol crochet and charted patterns. Once you see the guide on what the symbols mean it does have a learning curve. But on repeats, it is easier. |

Back when I knew barely how to sc and dc, the only patterns I had were some Magic Crochet mags, one afghan book and a coaster book. The coaster book had words and the Magic Crochet started you out with words, but then you had to follow the symbols. I studied them just to see if I could figure it out. The good thing is doilies are all about repeats so once you figure out WHERE the next stitch is, then they are not so hard to follow. It's more about memorizing the symbols so you know how to read the things.
