The local Hobby Lobby has one aisle of yarn to offer, and has the thread on the end of one aisle.  Most of the yarn is trendy, and the thread offering is also meager.

Walmart has half of a small aisle.  I'll check on the offerings and report.

Michaels, closer into town, has one and a half aisles of yarn, and half of one side of an aisle of thread, along with the embroidery thread.  They stopped carrying tatting supplies at all.

JoAnns is not on my current routes, so can't report on them just now.

How is it in your neighborhood?

The same way here too. I do better on Ebay when it comes to getting yarns.
I also keep and eye out here at Big Lots. They sometimes have great yarn sales.

Thread color choices at most big box stores is limited, but even at the LYS there is not much thread.  For colors online is the probably the best bet.
HL here has two aisles of thread and there isno organization that I can see.  One spot will have Vanna's then next to it HL brand, then more Vanna's.  It makes me want to redo their aisles myself! LOL!

My Hobby Lobby used to have 5 aisles of yarn and now they have reduced it to only 2!  My Wal-Mart reduced stock too!  Luckily, I have such a huge stash I'm working on I haven't had to worry about buying yarn for quite some time now!  lol
