Monkey Socks (which I've since finished) in KnitPicks Dancing . . . Hula colorway.

My new WIP Sock. I'm using the pattern River Rapids by Sockbug with the scrumptious yarn I got off Etsy.com from Kindered Spirits Yarn.

I wish I could do socks. I have tried and tried. I can do the Magic Loop method (taught myself on the train to Colorado). I can do the DPN method, but can't get past the cuff, cuz I get bored.

I really really want to learn to do socks and finish a pair but alas I think I'm destined to knit cuffs only. Hmmm, is there a market for that?? hahahah Keep your ankles warm at least!

I haven't tried the magic loop method yet. My first socks were done on dpns. I recently learned 2 circs method (which I love - no more worries of dropping & losing a needle).

I've found if I work them in the car, they'll eventually get finished - usually in about a month. Unless we take a major road trip. Although, if I'm close to finishing them I'll work on them at home. I'm not sure how well I'd be able to graft in the car.

My first pair was very frustrating. I wasn't very good at fixing dropped stitches then (and I'm still really bad at it if it's a lace pattern). I'd get ALMOST to the heel flap and I'd drop a stitch. I'd have to frog the whole thing and start over. I think I did this 4 times before I made it past the heel. I got REALLY GOOD at not dropping a stitch

My suggestion . . . find a pattern that's fun. My first pair was the River Rapids pattern. It was just interesting enough to hold my attention. I'm not sure I could finish a pair that was either straight stockinette or a K2P2 pattern. That's why I liked the Monkey socks too. It's a simple repeat, but interesting enough not to get too boring. I'm dying to try her Pomatomus, but haven't worked up the nerve yet . . . maybe on my next pair.

Fun yarn is another treat. My first 2 pairs were done in a beyond soft alpaca yarn I got off Ebay. It was a dream to work with. My next two pairs were done in Dancing from KnitPicks. The colors were fun, but I don't think I'd buy this again. Now I'm using a 70% Merino/30% Silk that is so soft & pretty.

Good luck!!

I have some KnitPicks Dancing, and some Bernat Sox. Also some Fortissima.

I am doing a straight ribbing, maybe that is why I'm bored. I'm a little hesitant to try a patterned one. Maybe I'll try the two circs way.

I did the 2 cir-2 at once toe to top, that went alot easier then I thought..And not having the dredded other sock to do was great....
I did change up the pattern for the second pair.
But I do like JazzRizz's socks.....
Next ones I'm going to try are the Coriolis Socks from Knitty Gritty..
