I have been searching the net all day for a charity to get involved in that donates preemie items and burial items to local hospitals in my area. I am so sad to see that many of the charity organization web sites are years old, haven't been updated, or have been taken down. It is quite depressing!!! I'm also amazed that there are no charitable knitting/crocheting organizations located down here where I live on Cape cod. Ok, that's not true, we have a local Project Linus coordinator but that seems to be all that can be found on the web!!!
I guess I will just go ahead and donate on my own but just wanted to express my disappointment.
Hey Trish have you asked on Ravelry they have lists of charities on there. I am involved with an Australian charity called Knit4Charities on Yahoo and we have a calendar of charities where you add you name to the database of the charity (more than one is ok to)you want to make something for and at the end of the month you are given the address of the person who collects and delivers. I have made lots of fetal demise pouches and burial outfits and possum pouches and afghans this year for various parts of this country. There are many in the USA who do the same kind of thing I have seen many on Ravelry and been tempted to join, but I have already been down that road once and the overseas postage nearly sent me broke. I used to be involved with Crafting for a Cause also on Yahoo they were American and require heaps of baby and other items for the Native Americans they also have a hospital where they make all sorts of items for children. Sometimes it takes a bit of scouting around to find what you are looking for but it is so worth while when you do. I only wish I could crochet and loomknit much faster.
