OOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LADY'S, I HAVE GOT SOME WONDERFUL NEWS TO SHARE
WITH ALL OF YOU HERE AT CROCHETMANIA!!!
As you know by now, it seemed as if we were going around the world just
to get to today.... on getting the "CrochetManiacsForCharity" goodies to BRASS.
The delay was so they could get everyone together at a time when
they could all come out to my home and pick them up for us
Now all of your wonderful heartfelt handmade donations are at BRASS
as I type this to you
The wonderful things that you all sent for this great cause got picked up today
and left from my house about 30 minutes ago!!
They had to schedule a time for our local news paper to come out
with the deputy to pick them up and make some pics!!
And YUP, they did get some pics of this fat and sassy old woman
(( Just remember to look at the gifts and not the old woman in the paper ))
It was our local "BG Daily News" here in Bowling Green that came out with the Deputy.
They wanted to do an article about
our "CrochetManiacsForCharity" group!!
They said that pics of your donations and a story about our group will be in paper here tomorrow!
Here is the link to their website lady's for you to be able to read and
see the story about our donations to BRASS:

Would you believe it, I didn't get to make any pics with my camara of them being here
picking up
your donations to post on the board for you all to see today
With all of their questions and pics that they were making and such that they were in here doing,
it's a wonder I even remembered how to spell our crochet boards name right when they ask for it!
I remembered pics when they were leaving and I got them to hold on long enough to get these pics.
I made the one, then I ask the deputy if I could make one more quick one (they were in a rush)
with him waving at you all........ He smiled and starting waving and I snapped the pic
Here they are:
Click on to enlarge:
The white car setting right in behind the Deputy are the News crew that came out.
They were just so nice and made me feel very comfortable and not so nervous
(I have to admit, I was shaking when they first got here).
It was exciting and I can't wait for tomorrow to get here now
You all are the sweetest and most dearest big hearted bunch there are I am so Blessed to have been given the privilege of getting know all of you
You all did a good thing I am and will always feel Blessed for getting to know all of you

Not yet Darlene, but we are watching this that is coming in here tonight
and looks to be bringing in some sleet and freezing rain.
I don't like the sound of this at all. I would be glad to take snow over
and thing wet and freezing any day, that's for sure. I am not sure
if we even got out of the upper 30's here today.
Yes it was very nice of them to come here. BRASS has to stay so
private and protected it was about the best thing all around. They
never know at BRASS if it is something legit or not, and can not
take the chance of anyone following them back to the place where
the women are staying under their protection.
Here is the Friday paper. I just went to their website just to
see if maybe they got it posted early (nah, still have to
wait for the saturday edition).
BUT...
I just happen to scroll down the page and I saw me in the top
left corner of the newspaper (my son says that doesn't show up
on the actual newspaper, it's just on their online page where you
see this).
It is what's coming up in their next days paper
That's me, I told ya I was a fat and sassy old woman didn't I
It Say's
"COMING UP Helping hands Group uses craft to
help others by donating to
charity. See Saturday’s
Family."
Look up in the top left hand corner...

They (The Daily News) have removed this article
that was on their friday web news..... the link is no longer viable
as of Dec 8th, 2007

Well, I had to come in here and check just one more time
before I pull the plug on this old computer and call it quits.
They have our group"CrochetManiacsForCharity"article now
published
The Deputy and I made two trips out to his cruiser with blankies
There were some errors in the article,
but all in all, I think that our small town newspaper did a wonderful job
telling our groups story of sharing our talent with others
with our heartfelt handmade gifts.
Errors: (1) LOL, I looked at the title and I think she meant to put
"A love of yarn" bless her heart.
(2) And when I bring home a bunch of yarn from the store, I feel like
a bank robber would after a big robbery. I have often had the urge
to just pile the floor full of yarn and roll in it, LOL!
(3) And there where she ask me how I learned to crochet, it should have read......
"taught me the chain stitch and the single crochet stitch"
(4) And it should have read..... we have a little over 240 members here at CrochetMania.
They also published links to our "CrochetManiaForum" and to my blog
"CrochtManiacs" so if there are others here locally that would like to
join us in making some heartfelt handmades for charity they can.
I hope our groups story will help us to find some here local that
would love to help in joining squares and doing borders with me.
This way we can do more ghans and maybe be able to donate to
others here twice a year
Thank you all so much for having some mighty big hearts,
you have truely made it a little nicer for a few battered Mother's
and their children this Christmas
Here is the link to the article
(I think that it only stays up for 24 hours, not sure though):

Hi and good morning to everyone.
Yes, I just had to plug this old computer back up
and post this for you to see ________________________________________________________
Darlene, hubby and I had a wonderful evening last night,
I made his fav meal. Would you believe, it's homemade soup ________________________________________________________
My youngest just got in from work and he brought home today's newspaper.
I made you some pics of the actual article as it was in the paper
I hope the page will not be to big, but I wanted it to be large enough
that you could be able to read it.
BRASS recieving them
Hudgins has found a way to indulge her love of yarn with another passion - helping others. She and more than a dozen women who are part of CrochetManiacsForCharity crocheted crib blankets, bottle warmers, toys, mittens and hats for the Barren River Area Safe Space, which helps domestic violence victims. The women who crocheted the items live in various states, including Texas and Washington, Hudgins said.
“These are ladies I met online,” she said. “People think that people on the Internet aren’t real. They are people with real hearts and real hands.”
BRASS assistant director Pam Hurt said the regional agency is excited about the donations.
“We can use them for a variety of things - Christmas presents, trinkets to help people get settled or start up a home,” she said. “These are the things we need to help people feel like they’re in a safe place.”
............
“Some send afghan squares. I join them and border them and get them completed,” she said. “Some send in completed afghans. We’ve been working on it for about a year.”
The group hopes to expand the project so that they can donate to organizations twice a year, Hudgins said.
The help of the online group was valuable, Hudgins said.
“They’ve done a wonderful job,” she said. “Without their help, most of this wouldn’t have been possible.”
You know what, that title is right after all. It is not A Love Of Yarn like I first thought she may have meant to write,
It is just perfect the way that she decided to title it for we are just that,
"A Yarn Of Love"
I am now officially unplugged
Have a wonderful weekend lady's & gents,
I will see you all again on monday,
the Good Lord willin and the creeks don't rise
That is soooo incredible. Congrats ladies!!!! Thanks to everyone who donated, this was a huge success. You should all feel very good about using your craft for good :) WTG Kathy for getting it all together and organizing this.
