“Vicki’s Teatime” (Was A Gift To Mythunderbird) :)

Back almost a couple of years ago now, I surprised Mythunderbird with this pattern I did up just for her
It went into a comfortghan that a group of us made for her.

Remember, I wrote this way back when I was just beginning to do up patterns, so if you find any errors or corrections that need to be made,
just let me know.

12” Crochet Square
And Teapot Coasters

Skill Level: Easy

Materials:

4-ply worsted weight yarn
1 small skein (3oz.) Caron’s Simply Soft
Country Blue
1 small skein (3oz.) Caron’s Simply Soft
Light Country Blue
Small amount of Caron Simply Soft White
Or any colors of your choice.

Note: There will be enough yarn
for two squares with some left)

Note: For the teapot,
Always work your last stich in each row in the base of your first ch 1 stitch.

Hook Size: G

TEAPOT
Start:
RND 1:
Ch 4, join with a sl st in the first ch of ch 4 to form a ring.
Ch 1, Do 10 hdc’s in ring, join in top of the 1st hdc with a sl st. (10 hdc’s).

RND 2: Ch 1, do 2 hdc’s in same st as joining & 2 hdc’s in next st and 2 hdc's in each st around (20 hdc’s).

RND 3: Ch 1, do 2 hdc’s in same st as joining, 1 hdc in next st, *2 hdc’s in next st, 1 hdc in next st,*
Repeat *to* around, join in top of the 1st hdc with a sl st. (30 hdc’s).

RND 4: Ch 1, do 2 hdc’s in same st as joining, 1 hdc in each of the next 2 hdc’s, *2 hdc’s in the next st, 1 hdc in each of the next 2 hdc’s,*
Repeat *to* around, join in top of the 1st hdc with a sl st. (40 hdc’s).

RND 5: Ch 1, do 2 hdc’s in same st as joining, 1 hdc in each of the next 3 hdc’s, *2 hdc’s in the next st, 1 hdc in each of the next 3 hdc’s,*
Repeat *to* around, join in top of the 1st hdc with a sl st. (50 hdc’s).
Finish Off.

Note: You have been working in the right side of your piece, now turn over to the wrong side.

Outside Edge Of Teapot
RND 5:
Start working now in wrong side,
With you other color,
(handle)
join with a sl st in any hdc, ch 6, sk 3 hdc's, sl st in next hdc,
Ch 1, turn.
Work 10 sc's in ch 6 sp. (handle made)
Back in the circle now, do a sl st in the first hdc and in each of the next 10 (11 sl st's),

(teapot knob)
in next hdc do--2 hdc's, 2dc's,
in next hdc do--1 triple,
in next hdc do--2 dc's, 2 hdc's, (teapot knob made)
do a sl st in the next hdc and in each of the next 10 hdc's (11 sl st's),

(spout)
ch 4, do 2 triples in the same st as ch 4, do 2 dc's in next hdc, do 2 hdc's in next hdc, then do 1 sc in each of the next 2 hdc's,(spout made)
sl st in each of the next 16 hdc's, do 1 sl st in each of the 10 sc's (around handle), do 1 more sl st in next st then
Finish Off.

Starting The Square Section Now.
Note:
Work in BLO (you will see 3 loops, be sure to work in the very back loop of the 3) IN THIS RND.

With your teapot color, right side facing,

RND 1:
Take you teapot, right side facing, teapot knob at the top--center. Bend teapot knob forward so you can see the 4 loops at the back. Join with a sc (counts as first (1) sc) in the 4th loop (one at the left) to begin this RND.
Do 1 sc in each of the next 10.
(Behind the spout), work 1 sc in each of the 5 loops,
sc in the next 16,
1 sc in loop behind end of the handle,
1sc in each loop (4 of them) in the opening (between handle ends),
1 sc in loop behind other handle end,
1 sc in each of the next 9,
and 1 sc in each one of the last 3 (loops behind knob).
Join with a sl st to the first joining sc. (50 sc's)

RND 2: (note: first ch 3 counts as 1 dc).
Ch 3, 1 dc in same st as joining, ch 3, sk 2, 2 dc's in next st---around to the last 2 dc's, then do ch 3, skip 2, join in the top of the first dc (first ch 3) with a sl st,
sl st into first sp. (17 sp's and 17 dc groups).

RND 3: Ch 3, 2 dc's in same sp, ch 2, 3 dc's in the next ch 3 sp, around to the last 3 dc's, ch 2 and join with a sl st to the first dc (first ch 3). sl st to sp. (17 sp's and 17 dc groups).
Finish Off.

RND 4: With you other color, right side facing,
teapot knob at top center, join new color with a sc (counts as first sc) in the sp (of last RND) at right center of the knob, 1 sc in each of the next 3 dc's, 1 sc in next sp--around, ending with 1 sc in the last 3 dc's,
Join with a sl st to the first sc,
(68 sc's).

RND 5: ch 3 (counts as first dc), 1 dc in each sc, around,
Join with a sl st to the first dc, (in top of the ch 3),
(68 dc's).

RND 6: Ch 1, (counts as first sc) 1 sc in each of the next 5 sc's,
CORNER:
*(1 hdc in the next st,
1 dc in the next st,
1 triple in each of the next 2 st's,
ch 3,
1 triple in each of the next 2 st's,
1 dc in the next st,
1 hdc in the next st),
CORNER MADE.

sc in each of the next 9 sc's.*
Repeat *to* 2 more times
Work one more corner (to),
1 sc in each of the next 3, join with a sl st to the
first sc (first ch 1).
(68 st's with ch 3 in each corner) 17 st's per side.

Note: Now take your square and pull slighty to flatten and set your square shape.

Proceed.
RND 7:
ch 1, (counts as first sc) sc in the next 2 sc's,
CORNER:
*
(1 hdc in each of the next 2 st's,
1 dc in each of the next 2 st's,
1 triple in each of the next 2 st's,
2 triples in corner sp,
ch 3
2 triples in corner sp,
1 triple in each of the next 2 st's,
1 dc in each of the next 2 st's,
1 hdc in each of the next 2 st's).
CORNER MADE.
sc in each of the next 5*.
Repeat *to* 2 more times
Work one more corner (to),
1 sc in each of the next 2, join with a sl st to the
first sc (first ch 1).
(84 st's with ch 3 each corner) 21 st's per side.
Finish Off.

RND 8: With you other color, right side facing,
Join in any st with a sl st, ch 3 (counts as a dc),
do 1 dc in each st and
(2 dc's, ch 2, 2dc's) for corners.
(100 st's with ch 2 in each corner) 25 st's per side.

RND 9:
Repeat RND 8
(116 st's with ch 2 in each corner) 29 st's per side.


Measure your square now.
(Work the last RNDs with your other color, right side facing)
Adjust the last few RNDS accordingly to
make it a 12" square.
(the square in picture was done in 1 RND of dc's and 1 RND of sc's to get a 12" square).

Do the last RNDS exactly as you did RND's 8 and 9.
Finish Off when you have reached your 12" size.

Note: White (or any color you choose as outside border color).
Border:
Join in any st with a sc,
sc in each st around
with your corners being (1sc, ch 2, 1sc)
Finish Off.

Kathy made that for me when my mom died and she is a wonderful friend and talented designer. she and all of you helped make my moms passing easier . i know its been a while but when i use my blanket you all made me i love it and all of you my friends are the reason i love this site. thanks kathy for sharing with everyone, you very easily could have sold that on yiour etsy store, but instead chose to share with us all, thank you is not enough but i want to thank you all anyways

I guess it has been going on 5 or so years now since we first met.

Oh my, how did I miss your post NorthernRose,
No hun, this so far is the only teapot pattern that I have
done. I have piddled around with a teapot cozy but so far
I am not very fond of it. I will post some more of my free patterns
soon, hope everyone will like them
