12" Crochet Square~~~Needs A Name~~~

I designed this square yesterday but am having all kinds
of trouble with naming the critter

When I take a quick glance at it, I think of my Granma's
Fine China---------Hmmmmm, what do you guys think?

Enough sunburst names out there....doesn't
remind me of that.

What name do you all think would fit this one?

I think you already named it Grandmas China It's really lovely

Grandma's China is the PERFECT name. You are so very talented.

Hearts A Plenty. The center section looks like hearts to me.

Yea it does looking at it here in this picture.
But in person, you can't tell the hearts so much though.
Kahud48

Thank you all very much for helping me name it.....
guess I had named it already before I had posted it,
but didn't know it.

For some strange reason, Grandma's Fine China just comes to mind when I look at it.

Hubby said that my Grandma may have had some dishes that
this square is bringing back to mind. Come to think of it, she did
have a set that had a similar pattern on them.

Isn't it funny how
things that you forget are sometimes brought back to mind,
and in ways that you wouldn't expect?

Thanks everyone for the nice compliments, I do greatly appreciate it.

I love that square, and Grandma's China sounds perfect for it
Hounddog

Your square is great but it reminds of something they use for sailing but I can't think of the name.
Colyak Crocheter

It's a beautiful square with a perfect name!
Good job, Kathy!
JazzRizz

That's a beautiful square Kathy!

I also love the name!
TX CrochetLover

The name you picked already works. It brings back a memory,
so the name reflects that. I like the square and it is very versatile, as the
different colors all look good!
Miss Kitty

Beautiful square Kathy..
I like Grandma's China, too.
jchllm

Kathy, it's beatuful. Are you going to sell the pattern or share the pattern? I'd love to give it a go.

Gorgeous!!

would you be thinking of Mariner's Compass?
I think it looks like seeds of friendship but I love the name Grandma's fine china.
The square is wonderful.
Kahud48

Well guys, I am still debating the name. Some one told me that it looks
more like a Dreamcatcher. I am seriously considering that because
I think it does look a lot like one to.....a lot more than China dishes.
I know there are dreamcathers out there, and how could I name this
one the same, but different some how?
Kahud48

Lisa, I haven't written up a pattern yet (have half of it written only so far).

I am wanting to design a dozen squares and work them into a book somehow to sell.
This I am still learning on how all of that works. I have since tweeked the pattern a tad
to get the clusters to pop more so I will have to re write that......is part of what I had written out already.

Is there somewhere online that teaches you how to write up a pattern?
I have more trouble with that part than anything else it seems. I never can get the knack of.
I can always crochet up the piece quicker than I can write it up.

Can you see the dreamcatcher look in it?

Kahud48

I just read "Seeds Of Friendship".

I like that a lot. Lordy, this is so hard.
Princsstrish

I think Seeds of Friendship is a GREAT one!!!! I don't see the Dreamcatcher in it personally. and Grandma's china works wonderfully since that was your first instinct.

I love this! Can't wait to see what else you come up with. Need any testers????? heheheh
jchllm

Oooooooooh, TRish, great idea!!
If you need any testers Kathy......I'd be honored!!

I do like all the names suggested but I have to say that usually first instict is the best. That's how I live anyway!!
Kahud48

Here is a pic with an added yo dc in the second round of clusters.
Not sure if it looks better or not. It does pop up more and makes it look like a small dish (saucer) in the center

I will try and get a pattern written up this week and post it for testers..........see what you guys think

I am into easy but pretty at the same time..........
so is my patterns (easy) leaning to intermediate.
w0taz

How about Grandma's dreamcatcher? Since it reminded you of your Grandma.
Alisha

I still like Grandmas China This doesn't look like a dreamcatcher to me it's not as open as a real dreamcatcher is. Plus I haven't seen a Grandmas China square but have seen a dreamcatcher square so the name is fresh But it is your square
angelfire

Ilike the way that it pops...I really would love to do the pattern. I am putting together a comfortghan for Bindi Irwin and it woulod have been a perfect square to include. I hope when You get the patterns all compliled that I wil be able to get your book.
Panj

Oh Kathy,

Yes, plez let us know about the pattern, I'd love to try it.
Kahud48

Thanks you guys, I almost have it finished.

Well, I have the pattern written up thru 5 rnds.
Have half finished. I will finish writting it up
tomorrow and will post it in testers thread for you guys
angelfire

I hope I am one of the lucky ones that you will allow to test this...it is wonderful
Summerysmile

Kathy, this square looks great too! You've been busy, I see!!!
Kahud48

Thanks Lisa, I had a lot of fun designing these. I have
been sick, then busy with an afghan I am making for a friend,
and I have a few baby blankets (some squares to join) to get done.
I think I can finally be able to get onto the baby blankets this weekend.

I want to try working up a kitty in my next one
thegothicl
