Blue Teddy Bear

Well I finished the bear last night, and I finished the I-cord neck tie this morning.   I have crocheted a lot of bears, but this is my my very first knitted bear.  I think it turned out pretty cute. I wasn't sure, cuz I was not liking knitting it (I was using two strands held together) and thought it was going to be too stiff.  But it turned out good.  I used a pattern in an old Family Circle Easy Knitting magazine I have.  It was pretty vague.

Meet "Scribbles":

I wanted to keep him for myself, but I had to give him to our six year old, who I was making him for.  :(  He couldn't think of a name so I went to a site of 'teddy bear names' and read them off....   He liked Scribbles, or Cinnamon.  I think he looks more like a Scribbles. Cinnamon, not so much. (Maybe if he was a brown bear or red bear...)  :P  I foresee more of these in the future...  :P    Thanks for looking!

P.S., His leg isn't wonky on the left, it must have gotten squished under him or something when I put him on the couch to take his picture.
:P

I like him Tina, you did a great job!
I don't dare knit an animal yet. If I was
to try one it would probably look like a creature that hasn't
been discovered yet

Too funny Kathy!
Tina, he is cute!  Is an I-cord hard to do?  And what is it?!

I-cord was something I had to work at to get it right. (It still isn't perfect, but...)  It isn't *hard*, just a little tricky (to me, anyway; it was...)  You cast on about three stitches on a dpn (smaller one works better for I-cord, I think. A couple sizes or maybe one smaller than what you would use for your yarn regularly.)  Slip all the stitches to the other side of the needle, so the yarn you will be working with is on the left. Knit the stitches. Slide them to the other side of the needle so the yarn is on the left. The first couple stitches are the hardes. You want to pull the yarn tight when you are doing the first stich to help pull it in (this is where I still have a hard time, no matter how hard I pull it still seems to be a loose stitch there).   I don't know if I was any help at all.  Here is a tutorial from knitting pattern central.  Maybe it will be more clearer:

Here you go Selena, Here is a visual that I just posted of a video
that I found when I was praticing the I-Cord.
She has a lot of good video tutorials for knitting that helps me a lot.
She is my fav.  in my YouTube, : http://crochetmania.myfastforum.o...tra39992.php&highlight=#39992

I have to finish my crochet top.  I have one sleeve and side sewn, today I will work on the other side so I can do the edging.  ThenI will be finished with it.  As far as my next knit project, hmm have to think about that.  Not socks, I am not ready for that.  maybe knit a tank or spring shawl?
