Disappointed in WIPI have been working on an outfit from Garn Studio for a couple
of weeks now and checked the gauge for the size. Every
thing was ok. Well, as I got to the sleeves and sewing all that
stuff together, I had my husband try it on. Cause it is for
a friend that has a 40 inch bust, and I figured he would give me
an idea of the way it would fit. He's a 42, I think, small
chest for a guy. He said it is a little tight. Well, it is going to be too
small for her, and it is too big for me. This is very disappointing.
So, frogging I am going and will have to think of something that
I can make her that is not quite so fitted.
I would just redo, but I bought just enough yarn and I will
run out if I go one size bigger.
This frustrates the heck out of me. I am not a whiz at wearables
and I thought this would be easy. The pattern itself is easy,
just not the sizing, cause I don't have a model or measurements
for her.
So, back to the drawing board!
Grrrr!

I'm so sorry that happened! It's frustrating,
I know. I'm sure your friend will love whatever
you make her.

I feel your pain.....how many times have I been
right where you are.
I can never get the sizing just
right no matter what I do......I have tried so hard,
and I always tend to have to frog more often than not

This is why I tend to shy a way from wearables. Gauge is a very elusive creature for me. Even if by some small miracle I manage to GET gauge, something goes terribly wrong somewhere else.
I have found knitting to be a little easier to use when making wearables, although it takes FOREVER to finish something.
That's why I usually stick with afghans.
Good luck with finding something else to make for your friend. I'm sure she will love whatever you come up with!

Sorry, that happened to you. After all that work.
I'm a bust on the gauge thing.. I can get the width with a bigger hook but the height is short or the other way around.. Never has a guage I've done worked out right...
Most of the time I just knit wearables....

Aww...so sorry... one reason why i tend to crochet for my daughter whom i can have right there to try on as i go. The one time i tried making something for someone I couldn't try it on, it turned out too small. :(

Yeah, I am not a happy camper. I have asked for some advice
from a thread at the Ville. Maybe I can come up with another
pattern that may work!
