Oh dear Peggy. Please send my best regards to your DH. It is tough to be supportive when you have fears of financial drain and how to pay for that /// Cobra. One good thing about that is the government is now subsidizing 60%. Unemployment is not much but it pays for groceries. Even I can't find a job right now. Dh was told to dye his hair so he would look younger when he went to interview and for his LinkedIn account. Because he is competing with young college grads. Obviously I am starting to rant. This is for you, not about me! LOL!
Hey if you need to vent, I'm here for you!

Peggy you and your family will be in my prayers. I hope he finds something soon. Our economy is so shaky and so is the job market. I will be thinking of you. I was going to go looking for a job. I hate traveling 60 miles one way. My loving son reminded me that I was going to start facing job discrimination. Be well.

Thanks so much Selena, Tina and Maxine. I know it sounds funny but he has been laid off several times in the driving business I am getting used to it. I told myself I was going to act differernt this time and be positive and not show anger and fear. I hope it will make a difference in how he responds. He usually gets really depressed and you know how hard and dissapointing job hunting can be. So I am praying and being positive, trying to remember its not his fault, ect. Besides Rachel is older now and pays real close attention to how I act. So hopefully my attitude will keep us all afloat. Thanks again and I love you guys. You are always here for me and that means the world to me. Hang in there Selena I know something will come for you all soon too hon. Hugs:)

I know there are people who are having it so much tougher than us. We actually have savings, so when the severance runs out, we have some backup. We changed our phone company to Magic Jack, that saved us $50.00 a month. We changed our electric provider, that saved $200.00 a month the first month. Reliant was gouging IMO. We reduced the cell phone minutes for DH for a $25.00 savings. I have pay as you go, only texting for $10.00 a month and the kids pay for their own.
I am using coupons like crazy and only buy only what is necessary. Before I would go spend $250.00 to $300.00 and half would be packaged foods and junk. Now, it's only what we need for the week. Thank goodness DH got two deer last fall. I haven't bought beef since February.
Kathy had posted a while back too about electric usage. We are sure to turn off everything at night at the surge protector strip. No ceiling fans running in a room we are not in. Only one outside light and it is CLF. Most of the lights in our house are fluorescent and DH got some LED bulbs for our entry way chandelier. We may never have to change them again.
I am learning new ways to save on the bills and the kids are old enough now they don't complain much. So, we don't have the newest, fastest phones and PCs. We still can communicate.
Apparently I need to vent! LOL! It is hard because I don't want DH to feel worse than he does, like you said Peggy.
One good thing that happened, the roof had some shingles blow loose last week in the storm. DH was nervous about getting up on the steep slope so called a company we have used for various home repairs. The guy came out for the estimate and just fixed it no charge. Thank you God, for good guys like that!

That's tough but God does take care of us, doesn't he? My hubby was laid off for 3 months last summer and it was a bit nerve racking.
