My mom knits, but I never learned. She did try to teach me when I was young. It just didn't keep my interest.
I should have her teach me to make her slippers though. They are so warm and cozy and last really well.

I am a non knitter here. I wish I could get the hang of it cause the knitted things are so pretty.
I just get so confused and loose stitches. It's just makes me nervous and not relaxing.
I sure do love to see what everyone else makes and read about it. I can knit on a loom if that counts.:)

Yup, I like how knit makes somethings look,
like how crochet can make that samething look better sometimes,
and Visa Versa.
(learning)
Now if I can just get the hang of reading some of these patterns out there.
I finally got the coordination and the tention thing down pat,
now it's onto understanding the patterns............they are
all written sooo different. I wish there were written in a set pattern
standard, like patterns were for crochet back when I learned
how to do that.

I have been trying to relearn how to knit for a while now but I don't know if it's just
because I'm used to crocheting or what, but I've been having a very very difficult time with it.
I have an old pattern that my grandmother made up, for slippers, that I just LOVE but
I can't get the knitting thing down right to make them.
I wish I could have someone sit next to me or over my shoulder to help me!!

Well so far we have about half who knit and crochet, and some who just crochet. Now of course we can always learn how to knit :)

I want to lean to knit...I even have a large set of needles to try. When I tried before I just wasn't getting it right. I'll try again one day. Right now I'm working on crocheting (of course) and I'm learning how to quilt. I'm also learning paper crafts. I want to get into scrapbooking.

I knit and crochet and actually learned how to knit first which I think is key. I didn't know that at the time and had always wanted to learn how to knit so I took knitting lessons first.
The gals who owned the knit shop where I learned were so talented and one of the other teachers taught crocheting so I dove in about a year after I learned how to knit. I loved it immediately and I think I was able to pick it up because I had already learned the harder craft (at least for my brain ) .
Now, when I look at some of the extremely intricate crochet patterns out there, I'm not so sure which craft is more difficult.....sometimes it's crocheting and sometimes, knitting......at least for me, that is!

I crochet and knit although I have to admit that I crochet better than I knit. I am still in the learning process with the knitting, but I enjoy it

Oh, tell me about it Sabrin, I am the same way.
I have crocheted for years, and from time to time, I will pick up my needle's here and give it a go. But I too have never mastered knitting to where I can be as proud of my finished piece as I am with my crochet.
That could be because I have crocheted for 29 years and have just tried to work with knitting in the last 3 or 4 years.
It makes me wish that I had picked up the needles way back then also and learned knitting at the same time as I did crochet.
I am 54, but I feel I am never too old to learn...........but I fear that my knitting will never be as nice as my crochet
Knit and I just do not get along them needles are my hardest
to learn just how to coordinate with, being soooo use to using one hook
to make a master piece's

I just voted. I've been crocheting since '79 but have never knitted at all. I tried once, many years ago -- I got the yarn cast onto the needle and couldn't figure out how to get the loops off to actually make the stitches. I thought, who needs this, I looooove crochet SO much and I can make anything using it that a knitter can with their craft, so I put it aside and never looked back. I am actually trying again one last time, over two decades later. So many crocheters can do that and part of me says, how hard can it be, and have seen some pretty dishcloth patterns that it would be fun to make (that's all I would ever anticipate making, small rectangular items, LOL). Then I watch the online videos and the online still pictures and again think I may forget the whole thing. Crochet is my passion and I don't NEED to knit; I just want to see if I could. Last night, I again got the stitches on the needle, having finally found a page that made sense. Then I didn't feel like going any further, LOL. MAYBE I'll take another look today. But really, I have more gorgeous crochet patterns than I will EVER get to, so a big part of me still says, why force something that won't come naturally? Creative outlets are supposed to be relaxing and enjoyable in addition to resulting in pretty creations, and crochet does all that for me. Teri

I do both. I find that I like to alternate them to give my hands and wrists a rest from repetition.

I've always wanted to learn how to knit. My mom tried to teach me *#$@ years ago, but I never did catch on. I've been crocheting for too many years to remember. love2teach

Hi Monique39! :) What are you working on now?
Love2teach...learning to knit after many years crocheting can be a little bit of a challenge. But, I stress the word "little". It can be done and it isn't as scarey or complex as it seems to be. Believe me, I totally understand your hesitation. But...give it a try again. You could be pleasantly surprised. :)
