I joined a KAL over at Ravelry in the Socks that Rawk group. I had a skein of Grimm's Willow-Wren & no socks on the needles at that time . . . so I cast on for this.

This was my first pair of toe-up socks, and the 1st sock was quite the experience. After a lot of knitting & ripping on the 1st one, the 2nd one just flew off the needles. For more details, here's the Ravelry link to my project.

These were so much fun, that I'm getting ready to cast on for another pair!

You know, it took me quite a while to get the hang of knitting myself. I spent A LOT of time knitting dish cloths & squares- getting the knit stitch down, then adding the purl stitch. In fact, I made quite a few scarves too.

I just practiced until I got the hang of what it was suppose to look like. I had to frog quite a bit at the beginning, because I couldn't fix my mistakes. Once I got the hang of what it was suppose to look like, I started trying to fix my mistakes instead of ripping it.

It just took a lot of time & practice. My very first sock I think I ended up ripping & starting over probably 10 times. I'd get to the heel & screw up - just to rip the entire sock & start over.

Trust me, eventually everything clicks and it feels like you've been knitting forever.

Crochet will always hold a special place in my heart, but it hurts my thumb & wrist too much to crochet for any length of time, whereas knitting doesn't hurt at all.

Pretty socks, JazzRizz...

I gave my niece a skein of cotton yarn and a pattern for a dishcloth. She came by today and said "That pattern you gave me is knit and purl and I don't know how to purl". She was learning how to knit. I didn't think she might not know how to purl..

So I gave her a quick lesson..

The socks are great! I may get to the sock point someday in knitting.

I am slowly learning the knit stitch. I don't know how to fix my mistakes without ripping everything out and starting over. But I think that is part of the learning curve. With crochet, who remembers how many things I frogged. It's been so many years ago, now, that I can't remember!
