My first doily!I made this for my mom for Mother's Day.I had originally been planning to make a cardigan for her, so I took her yarn shopping with me to get a feel for the colors she liked. Well, she threw me for a loop and kept going back to the crochet threads. She commented that her grandmother used to make a lot of doilies and tablecloths, and that they just sort of disappeared after she died. My mom said she wondered what happened to them, and that it was too bad they got lost. So, I decided to make her a doily. I chose a pattern from the 50s (when my mom was a girl). When I gave it to her, it turns out that while my great-great-grandmother had made very similar ones! My mom said that its nice enough that she doesn't want to use it for fear of messing it up; instead, she's having her fiance build a shadowbox for it so she can hang it up!
