My latest designI love designing new wearables. My most recent design is the interesting sweater worn by the character Molly Weasley in the Harry Potter movie, "Chamber of Secrets". It's great fun to make, and is good for using up those scraps & leftovers. Okay, it might not be everybody's taste, but a lot of us artistic types really like it. It's fun, quirky, colorful, and warm & cozy. Donnalynn is making one and hers is coming together quite nicely. She's doing a variation on the sleeves which I think will be interesting. It's one of those patterns you take and make it your own. Lots of leeway in this one. Substitute colors, textures, and yarns. I used LB Wool-ease for the body of the sweater, and RH ww and TLC Heathers for the sleeves. Donnalynn's is Caron SS. In my pattern, there are 13 different colors in all, and almost every row (of the sleeves) is a different stitch, which keeps it interesting & fun. Certainly something you're not going to find in stores. I suspect there won't be any two exactly alike. Each one will reflect the personality of the maker. Several designers have created their own version. Each one is unique. Here's mine:

Welcome Shelle, I am so glad to see you here, and
I have to tell you that you do some awesome work.
That design you have done there with the sleeves is
so like the real thing, just simply gorgeous. By the way, are
you the one and Funkyreporter who got that thread
going with the Foogly yarn?
I got a big kick out of that. I posted a name for IT.
Foogly Boogly Yarn  , or something like that. LOL,
did the yarn ever land somewhere?

Oh boy did it land!!! She's sending me MORE! This stuff must be reproducing! Isn't Paulette a hoot?! Did you see #3 in the series of Fugly Baskets I posted yesterday? That thread is still going! I think it has 9 pages. It turned out to be so much fun. I would be laughing so hard, my husband would yell from the living room "What's so funny?!?!"
Thanks for the nice compliments! I appreciate it! I'm gonna like it here.

I just have to sing Shelles praises on this pattern. It works up rather quickly and I am almost finished. Just working on the body of the sweater right now. I also have to mention that Shelle gave me great customer service when I got stuck. Come to find out, I just did something wrong as when I did the 2nd sleeve, there were no problems at all! Check out my blog for my pics of this WIP.
Love the sweater Shelle!

Hi Shelle! Glad to see you've joined us. I love your sweater but I'm afraid using yarn might be too warm for our clime. I love your version and the colors you used! 8)

No, I haven't been there in days, I did not see that
update on Fugly  (forgot how it was spelled )
Glad to hear that he landed. To funny girl. 9 pages, WOW!!
And as for the compliments, you rightfully deserve them
for talent like that. It doesn't come along everyday.
Keep on designing, I look forward to seeing a lot more :)

Ahh, you guys just made my year. LOL! You're all so wonderfully supportive. I truly appreciate the way you encourage each other. It warms my heart & puts a smile on my face! :D BTW, you must check out the "Fugly Yarn Help" thread on the 'ville. It's come alive again -we're planning a Traveling Fug adventure. People are signing up to host Fugly for a week, and keep a diary & pics, and then send him to the next person on the list. It will be interesting to see how many states he visits. I also posted pics of the 3rd Fugly Basket in the series. It's called Digger the Dermatophite. Gross, huh?! It's so funny. I found some really fugly yarn this week for #4. Have a great weekend everybody, and thanks again for all the nice compliments! I love you all!!

Fun sleeves, though I'm one to constantly push sleeves up when I'm doing something which I couldn't here, but would think this could be quite dressy in all black or white to go with a special outfit.
Wonder if you would see all the lovely stitches as well, in one color? Thoughts?
Nice work!!! Very creative

What a fun sweater! I bet it is just as much fun to make as it is to wear. I bet it would be great, too, adapted to thread for a 'lighter' feel.

I like that idea....yet another reason for me to try my hand with thread...I need more hours.

Hi Chelle. I've been watching these Molly Weasley threads with interest. Your sweater looks like it would be great fun to make. I would maybe try it in a solid color. But I have to admit, I don't know too many places where I could wear the more colorful one. Of course, the younger gals must all love it! And I imagine that the more artsy ladies look great in it also. I just happen to be more in tune with classic styles. I Love the pattern, though. It must have taken quite some time to design.

That sweater is really beautiful! I haven't seen any of the Harry Potter movies (but I did read the books!) so I can't compare it!! I love the colors!!!

Beautiful!
Problem is I can't look too long because it's 86 degrees here today and I'm already sweating!
I think my s-daughter would like that sweater only cropped shrug-style. Maybe even with a tie. She's 11 and wherever we go her arms get cold. Yet she doesn't like anything tight on her arms.
Alright... I'm going swimming now!

Wow, you guys, thanks for all the nice compliments! I'm sorry I've been absent for a few days. Been working out in the yard & stuff (I just now wrote yarn instead of yard! Freudian slip). The pattern is for sale - I have $7 on my site, but I'll sell it to my maniac friends for $5. Also, I think a solid color would be beautiful. Black, white, or cream, or taupe - oooh, wouldn't that be pretty?! And you could make it as long or as short as you want. It would be very easy to adjust the length - just add or subtract rows on the back & front pieces. It is really fun to make and it goes fast cause you change colors & stitches every row on the sleeves so it keeps you motivated. I'm hoping to get this pattern published. We'll see.... Meanwhile, I've got some new designs on the front burner. When they're done, I'll be sending pics to Leisure Arts. Has anyone seen my 2 books in stores yet? I keep looking for them. I've found them in online stores and on E-bay, but not in Hobby Lobby, Jo Ann's, or Michael's. Soon though, I hope they'll start showing up on shelves. I guess it takes a while. Well, my friends, it's way past my bedtime, so I better get off here! I promise to check back more often from now on! You need to check the "Fugly Yarn Help" thread on the 'ville. It's up to 19 pages now I think. It's hilarious! We're doing a "Traveling Fug" and keeping a journal of his travels. He's even going to Turkey the end of May! Should be very interesting.... He also has 2 brothers and a sister/wife?? Her name is Veronica Olive and she is perfectly hideous! LOL! It takes a special "arteest" to create a genuine Fug!! There's also a baby fug - someone found it in a bird's nest or something....

I really like yours!! You do neat work. And I was impressed with your foresight in making the two sleeves simultaneously. That would CURE second-sleeve-syndrome. lol I agree with you about adding rows to the top of the sleeve for added length, that way they don't get any wider at the bottom - although yours look fine. The one in the movie - if you notice, her bells are quite big and full. I think Caron SS would produce a lighter weight sweater with a better "drape". Mine is a tad stiff. Thank you so much for sharing your photos!

Have to brag on Shelle's sweater since that's how I found this place. I just made it. Started it Monday afternoon, July 24th and finished it Sunday night August 7th.......would have been done sooner but lost 3 or 4 days due to it being over 105 degrees here and just too hot in our house to work with yarn.
The sweater was part of my costume for the Norman OK Mugglefest held the other day, Tuesday, August 8th and I came in 3rd place in the adult division of the costume contest (beaten by Platform 9 3/4 and The Whomping Willow)
