I just joined and wanted to post here to see if anyone would be interested.
I just need to order some beads...
Here is the link to the Ravelry KAL

Hmmm, sounds interesting,
I am a thinking on maybe doing this one. What do you think Miss Kitty,
do you think I could do this one? It will be my first time working with beads. I just love that lemon color kit!
Miss Kitty
I got the Purple Hooter. Came in the mail yesterday.. I have been petting it, so soft.. If you order the kit you get the first clue, too.
You can do it two circular, magic loop or DPN's..
Kahud48
I don't know, I have never worked with the beads before
Miss Kitty
The way she has it you string the beads on first.
I've never done it this way either. I watched the video doesn't look that hard to do.. I like the way she has it you don't see the bead from the inside of the sock. And on the next row you lock it in place.
I'm going to get my swift and winder out tomorrow and then string on my beads..
Kahud48
Well I guess I'm in.
I just joined the KAL and ordered my kit.
I got the lemon
Kahud48
Somewhere on there I thought that I read that the beads were already threaded, or strung
Miss Kitty
Nope, not on the yarn..
That's what I'm going to do today.
My order from KnitPicks should be here tomorrow. Then I'm going to start on Clue #1..
I think I'll do 2 at once.
Kahud48
So you get everything that you will need in the kit to do the KAL, right?
Do you get emails from that KAL site whenever anyone posts a comment?
I don't and wondered if I need to do anything to get that activated.
Miss Kitty
I couldn't find a place to activate the emails on posts..
You get yarn and beads.. Took a picture of the yarn but for some reason doesn't show the purple very well..
I strung my beads using EEZ thru Floss Threaders. That was easy and only took 10 minutes to do..My needles came yesterday ( I needed another 24" size 1)so I'm going to get started on clue#1..(Since she sent it out with the yarn.. ) Going to have to wait longer for clue #2. That doesn't come out til the second week of May....
Kahud48
Do I have to have something special for stringing the beads?
What size needles does the pattern call for?
Miss Kitty
I use Floss Threaders like these . Somebody left a pack in the guest bathroom. They work great for string beads..But you can use Beading needles..
Calls for size 1. I'm going to use the 2.25 #1's, instead of the 2.50 #1's.
I have 2 circluar 24" now, I'm going to do both at once.. I learned how to do a heel flap this way. But with the short row can't see a problem..
Kahud48
I only have one size of each in my Options. Guess I could use one Susan Bates, that ought to work.
I am just winging it because I don't have a clue as to ahwt all I am gonna need, LOL!
Miss Kitty
Just the needles Size US 1, yarn, needle for stringing beads, 2 stitch markers. That's all you need...
" Directions as written work for the Magic Loop or Two Circle Needle method. and it could easily be converted for DPNs for those of you who like to work with lots of sticks."
That what is on the pattern..
Kahud48
Would this be what I get?

She has 2 available
Miss Kitty
Those are size 2.75 which is really size US 2..
They Size 2.50 which is US 1 works out to be meduim width sock so that would make it alittle bigger..But just alittle bit..
these would be great..

Kahud48
Ahhh, OK, I think then that I would need the medium for my foot.
So I am off now to look for a #1, 2.50
Thanks Miss Kitty
Oh yeah, is there anything in perticular I should get to string the beads? What do I string them onto, The working yarn?
I am truely lost here, but I am ditermined that I am going to learn
to do this
Miss Kitty
Yep, the working yarn, you have to push them down when you don't need them..
I'm on to row 2. Got the provisional (sp?) cast-on did Row1. On to row 2...
Kahud48
Oh yuk, I am not fond of the provisional CO
I am still figuring it out. I tend to knit something that makes it hard for me to pull out the starter yarn. I have to look at the video again and see where I am goofing at
Miss Kitty
Watch this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GSwG6SJ1z2I and you just put it on the other cable. No waste yarn.. I like starting socks with this one. Then you can just turn to the other needle and the stitches are already on there..
Kahud48
Ah yes, I like that first one, it looks like it would turn out neat and more even to me.
Kahud48
I got the two Options circular needles,
and I got these

Miss Kitty
You didn't need both of them..
Either one would have been okay..
I worked up to row 5, then switch over to Hubbies socks. Just need 1/2 inch more and I'll be done!!
Kahud48
So, I put my working yarn in the beading needle, then proceed to run the beads onto my working yarn?
Then I am not clear then as to why they came on a string when
I am just gonna have to take them off of it. I am such a dummy, but it isn't very clear to me yet on the what for's and the why's
Oh yeah, and can I ball two skeins from this yarn and do two at a time?
I have two circ's coming in the mail so I could do them this way, right?
I have a ball winder, now it's time for me to figure out how the thing works
Miss Kitty
Yep,Yep and Yep..
Yep, Just put the working yarn through the needle and add the beads.
( they come on a string cos' sometimes that's the way they sell them. )
Yep, That's what I did- Made two balls. Then added half the beads to each ball of yarn.
Yep, you may do 2 at once. That's what I started to do..
I don't think I would ever get both socks done if I didn't do it that way. Except of course baby socks..
Kahud48
LOL, me too on the one sock,
remember my first sock, it's still just the one sock
Miss Kitty
This is my yarn and beads for the KAL- Purple Hooter
Doing Clue #1- Here I worked 5 rows.
Doing 2 @ once on 2 circluar needles
Kahud48
I finally have everything and am fixing to start on my #1 clue.
I have gotten my yarn done with hubby's help. He found my winder for me yesterday and the beads are on each ball.
Here we go, wish me luck.
Miss Kitty
Kahud48
I am working on the 4-5 repeat rows right now
So far, so good
Miss Kitty
Here's clue #1
tomorow Clue#1 is going to be posted. Know I have to wait til May5 for Clue #2.
Clue #3 we get to start to add the beads....
Kahud48
Shoot, I was all the way up through Row 15 and saw that I had missed a row.
I had YO's on the top, and on the bottom
I had to have miss a row I had a bunch of phone calls yesterday (my oldest)
and I know that's when I lost what needle I was working on, the little stink!
Miss Kitty
I slip a ring stitchmarker between the socks on one needle. Then I know needle 1 from needle 2. In the picture you can see the blue stitchmarker. that's needle 1..(sole)
Kahud48
Clue #1 finished
Miss Kitty
Here is Clue#2 done..Get the next clue tonight..
Kahud48
I haven't EVEN started on clue #2
Miss Kitty
Clue #3 starts out with the beads.. I guess I won't be wearing them with any of my shoes...
Kahud48
That's what I thought too when I saw where they are starting the beads at. I figured they would start them up on the leg
Miss Kitty
I did, too. At least after the heel.
But it's a pretty butterfly.... That's what the bead make..
