Long story short, Tim is 23, and has been in a non-responsive state since 04-05-06, almost 2 full years, with a Traumatic Brain Injury. He wasn't wearing a helmet, and was riding an ATV when he came off and hit a tree face first.

Surgery to repair his facial fractures took over 8 hours, and gave him a bedsore on the base of his spine, near his buttcrack. Tim was so ill he lost 30 lbs and became skin and bones despite the best medical care available. Many surguries and procedures later, the back is not completely healed yet (it was once so large I could put my fist in it and could see to his spine); and from keeping him off his back, he got other bedsores on his hips and ankle and ear. The left hip healed, praise the Lord, but the others are still there.

The right hip is the worst, and despite new, innovative treatments, and an operation in September to clean infection out of it; the ulcer there is still undermined and not healing. He's had the most modern wound vac on it, he's had a special fluid air bed, but it's just not healed yet.

During this time, Tim has been kept heavily sedated at my request with some really large doses of Fentynal and Morphine; as without them the pain was literally killing him. He was days away from being sent to Hospice in December 2006, when we found new ways to help his pain.
Since then, he's gained 40lbs he needed, and is now able to fight infection with antibiotics, something he wasn't able to do before.

Now, they are going to do X-rays on Thursday, 3/12, and are seriously considering surgery to clean the wound and possibly do a flap procedure skin graft on the spine. I don't know exactly what the doctor is thinking; as I am currently not with Tim but in NC with my family. He's in NJ at the Center for Head Injury at JFK Hospital in Edison's Extended Care Center, called Hartwyck at Oaktree. My 84 year old Mom visits daily; but now I need to go back to him for a while. Saturday, March 15th I'm flying up to NJ and will stay as long as needed. This was my first time home since he was hurt, and I've only been here since just before Christmas.

i talked to kathy tonight and she said that they should have the results of the xrays that were taken to determine what needs to be done on monday so please keep tim and kathy in your prayers
