Prayer Request-My DH Got Laid Off Today

Oh, it was a shock when my DH came home at 10:00 am and said, "I just got laid off".  It was unexpected.  The co had laid off some people in CA, and it wasn't expected to affect jobs here in TX. A total of 19 people here lost their jobs today.  So, things are tough for lots of industries.  So, I am asking that you pray for my husband to find a different job.  He got a pretty good severance package, but ya know, that and unemployment don't pay the bills.  Son#2 freaked< said,"What are we going to do?  Will we have to move?"  Can't answer that.  Anywho, I am still trying to process what all it will mean to us.  If you can say a little prayer for us, it will be greatly appreciated.

I'll be sending lots of good vibes your way.  It's been happening all over, unfortunately.

We are in fear of that all the time. My husband's job had two big lay offs, they told him they were keeping 'the best of the best'.  But it doesn't mean he won't get laid off.   Anyway I will be thinking of you and I hope your husband can find another job soon.  It's so scary.

I am so sorry honey.  I have been there more than once.  I know its frightening to say the least.  I am praying for you and your family.  Try to keep the faith.  Remember God says that when a door closes He always opens a window.  If you need to talk please don't hesatate to holler at me.  I will pm you my number.  Hang in there girl.  Hug and prayers for you.
Serena

TXCL, I'm so sorry.  You and your husband are in my prayers.  May God give you grace and wisdom to do what's next.
Kahud48

You will be in my prayers too Selena, I know that we are in for some rough times in our country to come.
I worry about this so called stimulus making it even worse.
I will ask God to please send you and hubby His guidance to see you thru
as to what to do, He will make it all work out for you and your family.
He will see you thru it with more blessings than you can imagine
Miss Kitty

Sending hugs and prayers your way.

They closed down 6 shops in Texas alone where my Hubbie works.
So he has to work overtime and 6 days a week. That just doesn't seem right to me..
They hired 5 more people to keep up and starting next week they are going to be running 2 mills here.
Kahud48

I guess that we are being blessed right now thru this time. Hubby is a Door Greeter at WalMart and even though they cut his hours back thru the holidays, it was a much better thing than if they would have sent
him home with no pay. They always cut back on hours every year around
Thanksgiving and Christmas.
He is just now going back to 40 hours this week and it will feel good
to see that full paycheck again next week.
I hate to say it, but with WalMart, you can just about depend on them to
have and to keep your job. Their sales seem to be staying up there more
than most and the associates are not having to worry right now about their jobs.

I know it's WalMart and it's not a big paying job and all, but as my Dad use to say, a half a loaf is better than no loaf at all.
It does pay our bills and keep us feed and that is a major blessing in itself

Thanks to you all, it makes me feel better knowing you guys are praying for me and DH.  We are busy cleaning and getting ready to have a yard sale around spring break.  Maybe it will net us a little bit and get the "stuff" cleaned out of here!

We had already planned an anniversary getaway and DH thinks we should cancel it.
It's for three nights at a B&B.  Stay 2 nights get one free.  I told him we may not get a chance to do something just the two of us again for a long time and I think we should go.  I don't know for sure, but I think we need the recharge time cause the next while is going to be stressful.
The last time my Dh was in the job market, it took 9 months to find a job in his field.  I try not to think that far ahead.

The news just keeps on coming and none of it good.  we had some high winds last week and lost a bunch of  shingles.  The two companies we had come out to inspect and give bids on working the roof stated we needed a new roof.  There is a lot of damage from the storms last year that we didn't know about.  Insurance adjuster came out and they denied our claim for a new roof, because they weren't our carrier last year. So, DH and Son#1 were up on the roof replacing shingles today.  DH says there are so many loose ones and such.  He is not sure how long we can go without a roof replacement.  But who the heck has the thousands of dollars to replace it without insurance assistance?  I told DH that if we didn't have bad luck, we wouldn't have any luck at all. Not good news today.  It really is discouraging.
LadySnow

So sorry about the roof. I understand all to well on how things like that go. ((((hugs))))
Kahud48

I hate it whenever insurance companies do this, they aren't what they use to be.
They use to really be there to help back when I was younger, but now, they have so many loop holes to get out of everything, it isn't even funny!

Maybe you two can do a block party. Set up a time on a pretty day, get the neighhood men folk (and women) together at your house.
The women can do up a big cookout while the men folk put shingles on the roof

It's gonna be up to us more and more in the future than it use to be in the past.
Forget the insurance companies anymore, they will never be there for you now like they should, like they use to be once upon a time.

You are in my thoughts and my prayers
Serena

I'm sorry about the insurance company.  Thank goodness your husband and your son could replace some shingles. It does seem that we are thrown back on ourselves more and more these days.

You all are in my prayers.
TX CrochetLover

Yeah, for DH it was a learning experience.  He had never done any roof work before becasue he is uncomfortable up high.  Son#1 is fearless so that helped. DH is upset because of the job thing and now this.  I have updated my resume again and am looking as well.
PhoenixTears62

Selena I am so sorry to hear this.  I know if its not 1 thing its 10.  We need a new roof too and the estimates are 9000 bucks.  Needless to say we still don't have a new one.  You are in my thoughts and prayers.  It's wonderful your husband and son were able to fix some of it.  Love and hugs to you honey.
Miss Kitty

Sorry to hear about your insurance company. Hope thing get better for you and your hubbie.

Our insurance guy is coming out friday to check out our roof.
Hope I have better luck. We have a chance for more thunder boomers with hail on Saturday.
TX CrochetLover

Good luck Miss Kitty. Thanks for all the well wishes Maniacs.  We need em!  Hugs back at ya!
Miss Kitty

Bad news - We need a new roof.
Good news - The insurance company is paying the bill. And Hubbie has a little shed in the back yard they gave us money to replace it cos' it has dents in it from the hail. We didn't even think of the shed.
So, we are starting to have people come out to get estimates..
One is coming today, on Easter!!
Kahud48

That is good news Miss Kitty, I know you must have been holding your breath til they said yes.
You have a good insurance company, most of them wouldn't have even mentioned the building.
Serena

Miss Kitty, am keeping you all in my prayers. Good luck with the roofing project.
TX CrochetLover

Sorry to hear you have to get a roof, the deductible is probably high enough!  Glad the insurance co. agreed to pay.  Who do you have?
Miss Kitty

State Farm- $500 deductible on both the house and truck..
The lady called and said that she would make it later in the day because it rained in the morning hubbie told her to call him on his cell. She never called and never showed up. Check them off our list.
Ever since we had the hail storm we have been getting fliers in th mail and on the door. So going to start to call people today. We have up to 2 years to replace the roof.. So no big hurry. Not leaking yet..
We were looking though the fliers and some of them said that they are not storm chasers. I said to hubbie then why did we get a flier on the door, now after the storm??
TX CrochetLover

Thanks Miss Kitty for the info on your carrier.  We have Travelers, had Allstate.
