Prayer requestWell the word is in on the boy's biological father, it's stage 4 lung cancer.
Nonoperative.
They are going to start chemo in a couple weeks, but honestly, with his health the way it has been the past few years I don't know how he will handle it.
I'm at a loss....

He doesn't know yet. Although he does know he is sick, just not how bad yet.
We're trying to get a better feel for things right now.
His mother is going there to help take care of him, since his wife is pretty much out of it. Hopefully she will be able to keep us more updated.
I talked to his mom last friday and she was so devastated she could barely talk through the crying. Broke my heart.
I know we will have to tell the boy soon. We're saving money for a trip over there. As soon as the PET Scan comes back and we get a better idea of just how much it has spread (they know it has spread just not how much), we'll have to set him down and tell him.
This is just all so hard to take.

I talked to the boy's step mother and his father is in the hospital. He was going in to have the chemo port put in, which they did, but he's got some infection so he'll be in for awhile longer so they can run some antibiotics through him.
She said the dr came in and told them his outlook is not good. He has a bout a month to live, with chemo they may be able to stretch it out to a year.
Dawn (the boy's grandmother) is on her way there and doesn't know yet. They don't want to tell her while she's traveling.
When she gets there and I can talk to her, I'll get a better idea how fast she thinks it's going to go and get her opinion of when we should tell the boy.
I won't be on much, I've been trying to spend as much time with the boy and keeping him occupied and yet trying to get him to understand some things about life, and God and dying so that he can be a little prepared when we have to tell him his father is dying.

My mom lasted for 6 months with the Chemo before she gave up..
Then we had Hospice for about 3 weeks.
You and family are in our prayers..

The boy's bio father passed away this evening.

Kari, it's so hard to know what to say at a time like this.
Please know that I do care about you and the boy and
what all you two must be feeling right now,
I can't begin to imagine how you two must be hurting...and the family.
Take comfort in knowing that his pain is over and that God is there
to see you thru.
