Prayers neededWe're in need of prayers. Especially David.
With the economy the way it is, I am sure this is not unique to us.
The housing market and lack of building, and now gas prices and their supplies like concrete etc have all increased in price etc have really hurt his company.
Being a part of a global cooperation, it's really bad because they have to make sure each of their offices produces a profit. They have already shut some plants, and merged a few more.
They sent a 60 thousand dollar group in for the past month to go through and see where money could be saved and production could be more efficient etc...
This has resulted in massive lay offs.
Including one of David's guys last week. That leaves him and one other guy doing all the Quality Control stuff, which is quite detailed and paperwork intensive. Plus taking tests of the concrete, and all that stuff...
Friday his boss told him to watch the overtime for his guy that is left...
Now, David works 60 hours a week already only getting paid for 40 of course (such is the beast of being a salaried employee) and if he sends his guy home he will have to stay. There should be (by law) at least a level two certified QC person on site any time they are working on products.
This company, when he first started working there, had just gotten back open after being closed for violation of that and other things. He's worked his butt off getting their QC department into being one of the best in the whole southeast.
Now, they are wanting him to either work an extra 20 hours a week, plus he's having to do tests etc AND manage all the paperwork (I've helped with his paperwork, believe me, there is alot!) and make sure everyone is doing this up to par and by the law.
Anyway... He's very very upset and this weekend we updated his resume.
He says if he cannot find something he will retire early at 63 which means 900 dollars a month and we will BOTH have to get jobs just to make it.
Either way, we may have to give up our house.
We're all just so stressed out right now....
and I am scared..

Yeah, most companies want you to work harder with less. And if you are salaried, you are at their command for OT. This is an uncertain time and I can fully understand the fears you are facing. I will send positive thoughts and prayers.

I know the feeling..
My DH was going nuts when the cost of a fill up at the pump was in the 40's now it just jumped up to 65 dollars..
Our Electric bill just went up to 300 with the 100 degree weather here...
I told him we don't eat for awhile..
Will keep you in our prayers..
