Step Daughter's Wedding PresentDavid’s (my husband) mother made a doily for him and he placed it under a plant and over the course of time it leaked out water and ruined the doily. He finally got the nerve to tell her he’d ruined it and two weeks (I believe) later she had one made for him for Christmas. The next year she passed away.
The doily is a recreation of one from her mother. My wedding present to Nancy was a doily that was a recreation of the one David’s mother made for him. The was no pattern, it was just copied from person to another. I wrote the pattern down but it was ruined with the design notebook, I will have to rewrite it.
Here’s a picture of the original:
Here’s mine, it came out a tad bigger, but I love it. It’s quite possibly the most gorgeous thing I have ever created.
The recipients loved it and I am sooo glad they did.

That is one of the prettiest doilies I have ever seen! If you do rewrite the pattern please share it. I'd love to make one.

Kari, that is stunning. And the sentimentality behind it brought tears to my eyes. You are such a sweet person. I can only imagine the time and energy it took to make that. Wonderful job!

I can't think of a better or more special gift than that.
I was just at your blog last night and I saw your post where you talked about your future dil was trying to sneak a peak and figure out your gift. I was very curious to know what it was. Now I know.
My heart is aching that your design notebook was destroyed!
