We Call Them Pirates Hathttp://www.helloyarn.com/wecallthempirates.pdf
This is what I whipped up this weekend for my husband. Before you asked, I did swatch . . . I just didn't calculate correctly for my DH's 22-3/4" noggin. This thing's almost too small for my head!
I still need to knit the liner, but I've got to get sport weight cotton for that. I don't have much cotton in my stash. I love the hat & will definitely make it again (the correct size) for DH. I'm thinking of trying Simply Soft. Think it will work??
I used Knit Picks Palette for this hat.

That is too cool! You did an excellent job on it. I can't
really advise on Simply Soft since I don't knit, but I bet Miss
Kitty will be able to.

Very cool!
That turned out wonderful. Now you just have to make
another one a little bigger for your hubby. You'll have to
wear them when you go to Pirates of the Caribbean when
it cools down a bit for you there.

Good news - I swatched with Simply Soft last night. It came out perfect gauge on size 4 needles.
Bad news - I cannot find a skein of white in my stash . . . Looks like I need to go yarn shopping . I have to get the cotton to line it with anyways.

WOW, that's so awesome! I haven't gotten around to changing colors in my knitting yet. Well, except at the end of rows.

Here's my 2nd attempt in CSS. I ended up using heathered grey instead of white. This one actually fits DH's head. I'm not exactly happy with the brim of the hat. I don't think I knit the liner tight enough, but it works.

I love the hats! I was thinking
of using Knit Picks Palette but
now I'm going to have to
rethink the size thing.
