I attempted to join a crochet swap list I found on YahooGroups and which I felt had swaps I would like to participate in as time permits. I filled out their form and waited a few days; no word, so I remailed the form. To my shock, the owner said they found me on not one but TWO "bad swappers" lists so they could not allow me to join. I have never not fulfilled a swap - if anything, I have gotten the short end of the stick many times. There are two lists I can think of where there was a misunderstanding, but I was not at fault and did not fail to send my swap in either case. I would like to know how I can find out who runs these dang lists and how a person can get their name off! It really tees me off that someone would list a person for no good reason and then someone else would take it as Gospel.

And - if anyone here is a list moderator and relies on the info on these lists, I would suggest you ask the prospective member for 2 or 3 E-mail addresses of people they can confirm re your trustworthiness. DON'T rely on these "bad swapper lists" - they are bogus!! Any insight as to how a person can remove their name that was unfairly placed on such a list will be appreciated. Teri

P.S. I would be pleased to give the name of this list that unfairly judged me to anyone who PM's me. I don't necessarily want to smear them in public (even though they wrongly judged me........)

Wow! That really sucks!! Maybe you can just ask them where you're on the list that says you didn't fulfill your end. I don't see why they wouldn't tell you.

I've never heard of a 'bad swapper list' before. I'd hate to think that someone can just say that you're a bad swapper when you're really not.

Yeah, they are out there, and if you do a word search on YahooGroups, you will see there are groups who say they check "bad swapper" lists and if they find you on there, you cannot join. I never thought anyone would tell me that since I have never been a bad swapper. I guess if they want to judge people they don't even know and take as Gospel the word of someone else they don't know, then I wouldn't want to join anyway. But it still hurts that apparently there is false info out there that someone sent in on me and there is apparently no way to clear it. Teri
