Who keeps a notebook ?It would be a great idea to purchase yourself a drawing pad, a good pencil, and an eraser. No one ever has to see this book except you. Draw out your ideas and add notes this way you won't forget that excellent idea you had.

I can't count how many times I've tried to do this . . .
Diaries, journals . . . I never seem to stick with them.
Pencil and paper are fleeting interests for me.
Knitting and crochet are a lot like computer programming for me. I can take an exsiting pattern & run with it . . . but starting from scratch is a foreign concept to me. I just can't get past the blank paper, no matter how hard I try.
Designing doesn't hold any interest for me. There are amazing designers out there that are truly an inspiration.
Some people are meant to design. Unfortunately I'm not one of them, but I'm sure glad that those people who are meant to design share their talents!

I don't usually right my ideas down, but I do usually take pictures of my finished projects....

I do err well I did have a big notebook full of ideas, sketches, prototype for patterns etc but my kitties ruined it so now I am starting over again
Fortunately I have remembered all the ideas so all I have to do is rework the patterns.. not fun but I am trying to be positive and say they will just all come out better this time around.

I only have one design that I've created. Right now it's on four pieces of graph paper because I would misplace one and then draw it out again. I guess a notebook would be useful.

That is a great idea! Thanks!
At the moment I have a ton of little papers with ideas and little patterns I've been working on. I've been worried that they would get lost. I can't believe the answer to that worry is as simple as a notebook!
Kari, I can't believe your cute little kitties ruined your notebook! ACK! Those little rascals!

It's a good idea to also get those plastic sheet cover pockets (like at office depot) they are open on one end and closed on the other, plus they have the holes for a 3 ring binder allready. These are great to put all those little papers in.

I have a spiral notebook that I keep my personal patterns and ideas in. It's saved me more than once when someone has ordered something that I haven't made in a long time. It's my crochet bible!

Yes, I just recently started keeping a notebook. I 'took' it from my daughter when I was trying to figure out how to make my 'willy pilly'. I don't know how many pages I tore out to start again...lol

I have a notebook I keep track of my crocheting. I write down all my projects mainly like the hook size and what I am crocheting. I take pics of my progresses and my WIP and keep track of that on my blog. I have another notebook where I take pics from the net or from books and glue to this notebook and use that as a one day to do list. Or a guideline to things I would like to try one day in the future. :)

I keep a notebook too. I buy those kind that are nylon (colors) that
you can see through. I type out my patterns setting at my computer
in notepad as I am working it up. After typing and deleting and typing til I get it right, I then set down and make the pattern from the begining to be sure I have it understandable and correct.
Then I take it to Yahoo where I work on it with their editor in compose.
I post my pics in where I need them, and when finished I just write the
pattern name in Subject and mail to myself.
I know I know, but it works for me better that way. I then store it in
my "Patterns For Sale" or in my keeps just for me.
I also make a print out of it first and then I put that in those "kraft clasp envelopes" like Eva mentioned and then in the notebooks

Well I have a note book. It's full of all the patterns I have gotten online. I am a junkie when it comes to patterns. They are like candy and very addictive. Unfortunally I can make up the patterns of others but have no creativity of my own to make my own. Thank goodness there are enough out there to keep me busy:)
