I have a book about knitting with dog fur... & if you put it with something else even cat fur
I had a lovely AKC Samoyed yrs ago & would have loved to have some yarn from her fur but didn't know anyone that does the carding & spining
I love the book any way....

Oh yeah, I have heard of it too but can't imagine using it.
What would you make with it?

sweaters, trims. it would be like angora or other soft fluffy types of yarn & is washable.... just like our pets it would be like a very luxury yarn.....

You know, I never really gave a second thought, but I bet that
the afghan hound would be soft. They have beautiful hair.

I was going to save hair from my Aussie and try it. But still haven't even tried my spinner out yet...

My Dh thought it was ridiculous, but some pet hair is so soft, like the under belly hair on the kitties. She will do up a sample, I may groom Shiloh for a week or so and send some in, or I may just go the booth at the Fiberfest. She says she will spin it right threre. I think it would be interesting. On the site it states that pet hair is 6 times warmer than wool. Kitty mittens anyone!?

I have read about using buffalo fur and making thread. They sell it on the internet. Very expensive.

The buffalo have a real thick winter wooley body coat.
I bet that would be warm, and soft.
Miss Puddy would be good for collecting her tummy hair, she sheds
like crazy.

Our fat cat Shiloh does too. I am going to groom her the next couple of nights and take some to the vendor!

I don't think the amount she will spin there is enough to do anything with! But it will be fun to watch! I furminated Shiloh, got a lot of hair. Then I did Cassie, hers is softer. I tried to do our orange cat, but he wouldn't sit still long enough to get much!

Yeah, Miss Puddy too, she ran from me when I came at her with the pet brush.
She would probably have to be sedated before she could be defrocked of her loose hair
