It's been on my heart for a while to give back to those who are in more need than I am. Crochet is a special and wonderful craft. Can you imagine being gifted with something hand made from a complete stranger that is sent with love and hope? I think that would be a wonderful legacy to pass on and it also shows our own children how to give unselfishly.
So there are those that need your help!
Let's start a CrochetManicsforCharity crochet along!
I am hoping that you will help! If you check out the link for CrochetManicsforCharity you will see some of the charities that are donated to. http://crochetmaniacsforcharity.myfastforum.org/index.php This awesome organization is operated by our very own Kathy and Lisa and they do a wonderful job. I asked Kathy what is in need most at the moment and she responed, "Baby blankets!" So what I am proposing is this, that each one who commits will crochet a baby blanket (one or more, whatever your heart is lead to do) and then mail it off to Kathy to be distrubited where they are needed most. When you are ready to mail it off just pm me and I will give you the address where they need to go.
This cal will start on August 20th. That will give us all time to find a pattern and gather our supplies. Let's have all the blankets mailed off to Kathy by September 30th. Of course this cal can be ongoing and we can never send too many.
You can crochet or knit which ever you want to do. I buy the less expensive yarns like red heart which washes up real soft or any of the baby yarns like from Walmart.
Here are some links for baby blankets to help you out. Also if you find one share the link with us too.
This one is just adorable:) http://www.angelfire.com/ca2/Jeanaries/Teddyghans.html

This lady has some lovely patterns here: http://www.angelfire.com/tx5/angelcrafts/patterns/

So please sign up and lets get crocheting:)
Here is a little graphic gift that I can add your name to for participating. It's my small way of saying thank you:)

Ok, you can count me in.

I know I can do at least one.
I'd prefer doing one that has squares....or the like....I get bored so fast when I'm doing row after row of the same stitch!!

Ahhhhh, what a wonderful CAL to do Phoenix,
a CAL for the CrochetManiacsForCharity

Thank you for coming up with the idea, these little ones have it so rough
when they see their Moms battered. BRASS is a great place for their Moms and them in times of need..........they have helped so many, even I was there once, and I can never say enough for what they helped me through, nor could I ever repay them for what all they did for me.

Thanks to everyone of you who has given so much to this local BRASS here in Bowling Green with you
"Handmade With Lots Of Love" donations

They are greatly appreciated....and they DO put lots smiles of some very sad little faces, trust me, your gifts of love gives the much needed warm hugs to these little fella's that they so need

I want to be involved in this. But, I really have to get my wedding gift done first.
So, I think I may be able to start by the first of September.

Peggy, I am making a thread table runner. It is filet, and slow going. But, it will be really nice when it is done! Ya know, I think I may already have a couple of baby afghans made up. Will it be cheating for this effort if I give one of those?

Oh goodness not in my book Selena:) no cheating at all. As far as I am concerned it don't matter when it was made as long as its given, right? I bet the table runner is going to be lovely:) I think I read you talking about it else where but don't remember the thread. LOL I get so lost sometimes:)

Well....as much as I hate to commit to one more thing... (I bet you all didn't know that I"m a commitment phobic!) I will promise to make at least one baby blanket before the end of the year to donate. I'm such a slow crocheter that I really try hard to work on my own projects first....but I always get sucked in to swaps because I can't resist them! LOL I think a charity ghan will be a good thing. I don't focus on charity enough.

You know, before we moved I started working on a charity ghan. I have one strip done. It's made with small squares so I can keep the pattern close by and do up a square here and there. I'll be done with my ghan in no time I'm sure!

Who knows....it might turn into a habit to always keep at least one thing on the hook for charity. That is a good thing.

Sorry for my ramblings....

I wanted to try Crochet Entrelac for awhile..
Well I got my baby yorn stash out and work on it for awhile yesterday..
Went to the pond more then I wanted to but finally got the right size hook I wanted and end piece for the rows. The hook is way to long so going to see if I can get a straight Hook instead of an afghan hook. My hand starts to cramp up..
This is what I come up with so far.

Click-able
