I have a little book by my chair that has most of the Standard Abbreviations for knitting. I still have to look and see what they mean and sometims how to do...
Most patterns have what the abbreviations mean that they have in their pattern..
Remember ladies ~ practice makes perfect well lets face it usually not perfect but it gets easier & more even etc the more you do... you are doing a great job & the red shows up fine (well at least until I enlarged it - wow thats red LOL)
I have a knitting pattern book of my mothers from the early 1940s .,... want any patterns from that I have lace books and knitting with dog fur and wow you wouldn't believe the patterns & books and now magazines. Then what do I do ..... I go online & write off more patterns!

I don't like having to sew the strips tog so I cast on all the stitches I want with markers and you can still have your different colors. Now that I finally learned the mattress stitch to sew knitting I don't mind as much tho. You do know you can crochet the strips tog if you wanted to.....
