What do you all think of having some kind of summer "do"?

It'd be ideal to meet in Texas.  I'd like to see what those new pavers look like at TXCL's place.

But, as we're online, could we have some sort of "send each other nice little things" and open our presents or cards on the same day and eat-cake-and-ice-cream and have a party online, or some other summer social?

Anyone else in the mood for a June Social?

I think that is a great thought! You can come help me dig out the spot to slope the patio correctly then help me lay pavers! Thanks for offering! LOL!

Let me put my thinking cap on, see if my brain can come up with some ideas to present.

Anybody else want to do a party?

What about an "Ice Cream Social" theme?

Maybe send each other cards or notes with an ice cream social theme.  Or do a simple swap.  Either make things or send each other yarn or hooks or thread, or other supplies in ice cream colors.  Each one could wait till The Day to open the packages.

On the ice cream social day, we open our packages, have something nice to drink and eat, and post what we've sent or received.

Just one idea.

What do you think?

I'm open for lots of things.

We can do a supplies/yarn/thread swap! Maybe some little crochet or knit goodies to go with it. I like the ice cream color idea, and opening all the same day, with the sweet treats. Do you know how to make mint juleps?
This sounds like a lot of fun!  I already have some ideas!

I'll run it by Kathy and then we can flesh it out some more and then post in the swap forum.

TXCL, thanks.  I think it'd be very nice.

I'd have to make myself a kiddie julep.   I have mint and stevia plants.  I'm more the health-food lemonade type.

I'll start looking at my stash and see what ice cream colors I have.

Mint Julep Cocktail
Ingredients:
leaves from 4-5 mint sprigs
2 sugar cubes or 1/2 oz simple syrup
2 1/2 oz bourbon
mint sprig for garnish

Preparation:
Place the mint and simple syrup or sugar into a julep cup, collins glass or double old-fashioned glass.
Muddle well to dissolve the sugar and to release the oil and aroma of the mint.
Add the bourbon
Fill with crushed ice and stir well until the glass becomes frosty.
Garnish with the mint sprig

Alcohol-free Mint Julep

INGREDIENTS
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup white sugar
1 tablespoon chopped fresh mint leaves
2 cups crushed ice
1/2 cup prepared lemonade
Fresh mint sprigs, for garnish

DIRECTIONS
In a small saucepan, combine the water, sugar and 1 tablespoon of chopped mint. Stir and bring to a boil. Cook until sugar has dissolved, then remove from heat and set aside to cool. After about an hour, strain out mint leaves.
Fill 2 cups or frozen goblets with crushed ice. Pour 1/2 of the lemonade into each glass and top with a splash of the sugar syrup. Garnish each with a mint sprig and a straw. Serve on a silver platter.

Here's your Mint Juleps..

Kathy isn't doing to good right now. Having a bad reaction the the Z-Pak that she was on.
She doesn't want to go to the ER and has called the Poison Control and they told her things to do to try to get it out of her system..
Keep her in your prayers..

About the swap.. Talk it over and see what you want to do. I don't see why we couldn't start one.
Since it's the middle of June already maybe have the party in July??
Give atleast 2 weeks to mail things off after the sign-ups..

Miss Kitty, thanks for the recipes.  I'm praying for Kathy.

Whatever is decided about the Social Swap is fine with me.

I'd be glad to do it, if I could have some help.

I've never started one.

There might be some things to do I wouldn't think of.

Can I PM you with ideas and you say: good, bad, or doesn't matter?

Thanks!

Serena, you will do well as the swap mod for this!
I do think since the economy is bad, it should have a price limit for the swap.  JMO.
