Potholder Swap???

My mother gave me two thread potholders that she bought at a church bazaar in the 1970s.  The lady who made them used patterns from the 30s or 40s.  I so like the very classic ones and would like to attempt something similar.

I searched for patterns online yesterday and only found these:

I found these blogs with photos from a potholder swap.  They are so cheery and pretty.

Anyone else in a potholder way?

They are lovely. My mother and grandmother used to make the most beautiful pot holders. Now, Annie's Attic has some beautiful potholder pattern books.

Miss Kitty, thanks for looking.

Anoramaxsis, thanks for thinking of AA.  I haven't seen any of the vintage Annie's Attic things.  The new things which I've seen aren't of the design of the thread potholders of the pre-WWII decades.

I found this site today and have been admiring these lovely things:

Here's one that is quite unusual:

Here's a beautiful pattern, although it's too difficult for me:

Anyone interested in a potholder swap?

I would be interested for August!  I like the picasso one and the rocky mountain one.  My garndmother made potholders from thread.  I have one I saved.  I'll take a pic and show it!

TXCL,  I'd love to see a photo of your grandmother's potholder.

I've read some of the earlier swap threads and I quite like the way the dishcloth swap was set up.  Here's a link to that one:

I went and got these from my cedar chest.  Looks like I need to do some cleaning. They have some dark stains on them.

TXCL, those are beautiful.

I have used cotton swabs dipped in hydrogen peroxide to get stains out.

The cedar chest is great for woolens, but the cedar will cause cotton to disintegrate.  My mother works a great deal with quilt history and such.  They always recommend storing vintage cottons in a cotton pillowcase on a shelf in a dry closet.

I used to keep some vintage cotton things in a cedar chest, and they did fall apart.

How lovely to have your grandmother's potholders!

July is going by.  What would you all thing about Potholders in August?

Either utilitarian or decorative.

What do you think?

Can I sign up?  I'm on tonight.  But, if the doggone COMCAST acts up again, is via email okay?

Here is another site.

Suzee, I'm glad you were able to get on.  It's great to have you here.  Oh, comcast, yep....

Hope some others are feeling potholder-y.
