I can't make up my mind. Just won an auction - cream knit skirt and top and got this way cool idea to make a ponshawl in cream with gold lame knit-along. Here's the dilemma:
Do I crochet the poncho; or,
Do I knit the poncho.
It will have to be a basic (but the bomb, of course) poncho as I will be wearing it Jan. 19 or 20 at an assembly. I saw my girlfriend, we'll call her "Short Stuff Lil Bit's" shawl, knitted with a "drop stitch" and my tongue has been drooling ever since. Gotta have one, but hey, for all I know there is a crochet drop stitch too.

Here's a couple link's I came up with. I didn't realize there was a crochet dropped stitch pattern out there. I might have to make this scarf.
Crochet Drop-Stitch Scarf from Crochet Me
Knitted Dropped Stitch Poncho.
With the time frame you've got, you should have plenty of time to knit it. Especially since you've been drooling over you're friends version.
My vote is for knit, but whichever way you go . . . I can't wait to see it! |

I guess it's really whatever you feel most comfortable with. I know right now for me it's crochet so I would automatically say 'crochet' because that's why I associate with but after the New Year I've pledged to learn how to knit well enough that I can make something and it look like it's supposed to so my opinion might change then.
So, I guess I'll vote for crochet but take my answer into consideration. |

Now ya'll know I am going to say knit but esp for a kinda lacy extravanza kind of shawl.... sorry but to me knit is lighter & have a more elegent kind of look to certain things.
Of course you have to remember as much as I love other peoples crocheting I can only crochet enough to finish something off, ya know very basic minor stuff. |
