I found a pattern in a book I bought at HL that uses Size 1 Patons Kroy Sock yarn. It is 70 something percent wool and the rest nylon so it is washable and dryable. I have made four pairs of socks and working on a fifth. I can wear these socks with my winter hiking shoes and 2 pairs of clogs. Finally something with wool to keep my tootsies warm and to wear with shoes. If you haven't tried this yarn, it runs 4.99 a skein at HL. I haven't checked the price elsewhere. But I did get it on sale for 3.66 there. Then I went back this week using the 40% coupon and got two for 8.64 with tax. The only thing is the color choices are limited, and of course I have bought all the variegated ones and a dark grey and am working on a light grey pair. Otherwise there is a flax color, kinda a muted tan color. I'll get that too probably next week. I love my socks!!!!!
