Hey Selena, This is how I have learned to knit and it is
soooo much easier than throwing.
It just seems to feel more natural after crocheting now for
30 some odd years. I thought this might be something
for you to try seeings how you are learning and now
would be the time to do it.....

This lady shows it so clearly. I didn't have my needle
turning as much as I should til the other day. I went back
to watch her video and I caught that. Now I am actually
knitting a little faster

Just remember to hold your needle in your right hand
down a little to knit, and the same to purl, except to pivot
to the right just a teeny tad when grabbing the yarn to
pull through

This lady shows it the best I have seen

Thanks Marsha, and you are very welcome.
I just keep on trying til I find what works best.
I love YouTube, it really helps me so much.
I use to live in the library til I got my computer,
now I learn like this. It is like a virtual library with sooo much
right at my finger tips that I can learn, and never leave my desk,
except to go eat and do a potty run

Well, the way that video showed it, it looked much easier than another I watched.  I tried the knit stitch and it is EASY!  Way less movement than the throwing method which I have been using.  The purl I will have to watch more to get the hang of it.  Off to practice!

I had trouble with the purl too at first, but when I figured out how to hold my needles, I got it going great after that.
What I do is keep my needles at more of a 90% angle. When I insert
the needle into the st, I wrap the working yarn around the needle (the short way around) then turn my needle up to a 90% (maybe just a tad more to the right) and pull straight down. It works great for me now

I have one sock just about finished and it actually looks like a sock
