Found this while searching for a doily pattern:

It's funny, the spelling for doily is d'oyley.  And puff stitches are called spots.  I may try to make the Crochet brioche Cushion.  The instructions are kinda different from what we are used to but it would be interesting to figure it out!

TXCL, I have seen sites which explain these older stitches.  I'll see if I can find one and post the link.

The last listing is from the late 1800's and may be more appropriate for the Beeton book.
