Mythunderbird, I've wondered about those machines. I sent a package using one of those machines and the box never got there. It never came back either. Someone, the wrong person, got a box full of amazing brownies, and rather special shower curtain clips. Aaaaaargh!
It's tedious to stand in line. But, the hand-stamping on the package by the postal clerk seems more reassuring than the machine.
I always send packages with the Delivery Confirmation now, and sometimes Insured, too.
