A while back, Knitpicks came out with their acrylic needles so I bought some tips for the interchangeable sets. I bought size 6 and have used them for the helmet liners I am working on for the troops. They have some "grip" to them, but they are not grabby like some plastic straights I have used. The Harmony wood ones are slicker? smoother? than the acrylics. I guess what I am trying to say is the acrylics grip more than the wood. One thing that is nice is I can see against the dark colors required for the helmet liners, i.e. black and brown. So, all in all, I like them. Since I am a new knitter, I do not know in what other instances the gripping of the acrylic would be an asset. You experienced knitters want to give me your thoughts?

I heard that the acrylic are not as slick as Options or Harmony and that you had to get use to seeing both side of the stitches, so I never tried them.
Well I would say if you have trouble with stitches sliding off your needles then they would be good.
