I know, I know! Summer is over but this contest is just starting!
Since I am in school, I do some essay type assgnments. So, for this contest, an essay/story on your summer staycation, or vacation with details about crochet or knit events, projects, teaching of either incorporated into the time frame you were on vacation or staycation. The most popular essay/story wins the prize.
Prize includes:
A Hobby Lobby gift card-$10.00
Skein of Bernat Sox Yarn in Denim Boise(enough to make a pair of socks)
4 skeins of Cottontots Yarn in Easter Parade.
Each person will post on this thread an essay, then when everyone has posted their essay, I will close the thread for posting. That means you can't edit once I close for posting. Then, I will open up a voting poll, or a PM voting so the votes are cast anonymously. Whomever gets the most votes will win. I will tweak this for clarity as we go.
Sign ups are today through Sunday September 27. Do not post your essay/story yet! Just sign up! I will give the deadline for posting essays on the 27th.
If you want to be included in the contest sign up here!

Example:
Unfortunately my family didn't actually "go" on vacation this summer. Instead we signed up at a new video store that opened here and rented movies every day for a couple of weeks. They had $1 rentals, so for us it was cheap entertainment and kept us out of the heat.
While we watched and everyone had popcorn, I worked on my first knitted tank top. I really was intimidated but knew I had nothing to lose by going for it. I mean, really, what could happen, I had to frog the thing?! LOL! By the end of the two weeks, I was tired of movies and I had about half of the project done. But the kids enjoyed it, and I got to work on my top without feeling guilty that I wasn't entertaining the family with a traditional vacation.
Please be more entertaining than me! |

Tomorrow is the last day for signups, I have put a small example in post three.
The vacation didn't have to occur in the summer, it could be anytime this year. So come on in and share your story and maybe win the prize! |
